Computype names Scott Hietpas CEO

Computype has named Scott Hietpas the new chief executive officer of the company.

Hietpas joins Computype owners Eric Roach and Todd Roach in leading the organization, which has a 40-plus year history of providing smart identification products to the global healthcare and tire industries.

Charlie Westling served as Computype’s CEO for the past eight years and will continue to work closely with Hietpas in his new role as chairman of the Computype board. ‘Computype is and has always been a family-owned business,’ said Todd Roach, Computype’s co-owner. ‘As a global organization, we’re dedicated to the success of our customers, our employees, and our communities. Scott’s skillset, background, and personality lends itself well to these priorities; we’re confident in his ability to build on the success we’ve achieved under Charlie’s leadership and lead our Computype family to greater levels of success, helping us achieve our strategic growth goals.’

Before joining Computype, Hietpas served for 22 years at Ecolab, holding positions of increasing responsibility throughout his tenure. Most recently, he was senior vice president and general manager of Ecolab’s North American healthcare business. Prior to that, he led the US institutional field sales and service force. Other experience includes serving on the board of advisors for the Multicultural Foodservice and Hospitality Alliance, and the Citizen’s League. Prior to his tenure at Ecolab, Hietpas worked at Ernst & Young and Andersen Corporation.

Hietpas holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota, along with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire.
