Jan Homan re-elected as EAFA president

EAFA is an international body representing companies engaged in flexible packaging, in rolling and rewinding of aluminum foil, and in the manufacture of aluminum closures and semi-rigid containers. Its more than 100 members include companies in Western, Central and Eastern Europe.

‘It is a great honour to have been given the task to continue leading EAFA,’ commented Homan. ‘Currently there is great optimism that the industry is well positioned to take advantage of the improving economic position, both in Europe and beyond. Membership has never been higher and the portfolio of products they represent means there are opportunities in many sectors.

‘EAFA has the experience and insight to deal with the challenges ahead. Our organization has been instrumental in keeping the issues of innovation, sustainability, resource efficiency and globalized markets at the forefront of discussions. My job, along with my colleagues on the board, will be to ensure these roles continue and the association stays at the center of the industry’s ambitious plans.’

Also re-elected at the EAFA summer conference were Peter Wallach, also of Constantia Flexibles, as chair of EAFA’s Container group, and ITS Foil’s Hans Hogeveen as chair of the Rewinder group.

Persons promoted and appointed to new positions included Amcor Flexibles managing director Gérard Blatrix and Paddy Mullaney, Clondalkin Group COO, as chairman and vice chairman, respectively, of EAFA’s Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE) division. FPE members represent companies that manufacture all types of flexible packaging, including pouches, sachets, liquid packaging, confectionery and pharmaceutical packaging. FPE comprises all major European producers of flexible packaging for all materials and who represent more than 75 percent of the European market. Members include Americk Packaging, Coveris Flexibles, Mondi, Südpack and Wipf.

‘I look forward to continuing to move EAFA forward and to the association growing stronger and even more effective in the future,’ added Homan.
