Parkside appoints new managing director, restructures to support growth

Adamson, formerly operations director, succeeds Nick Smith, who has left the role and moved into one focused on special projects within the parent company.

This change has been made as Parkside prepares itself for future growth. Having implemented a repositioning strategy from 2014, which saw the company move more firmly into the food and drink packaging sectors and bolstering its business in Asia, Parkside is looking to the next stage of its growth strategy in sustainable packaging.

Adamson said: ‘With new technology investments imminent at the UK site, our significant growth in Asia and the extraordinary demand we are seeing for our compostable, recyclable and lightweight flexible packaging solutions, our strategy is now to ensure our production flexibility is world class to meet the evolving needs of our clients. Nick and the team have done a fantastic job of getting the business to this point and I’m excited about what the future will now bring from an innovation and business performance perspective.’

Smith commented: ‘We’ve had five great years transitioning and repositioning the business and our focus is now truly on delivering great sustainable solutions for a wide variety of market sectors. It’s now my chance to take on some significant projects for the company owners, which I’m absolutely delighted to be involved in.’

A number of other management changes have also been made to align the business with its growth strategy. Steve McCormick has been appointed director and general manager of its business in Asia, having worked in the region for a number of months on an interim basis. Paula Birch, sales director, is now responsible for a newly merged innovation and sales team. Phil O’Driscoll, innovations director, and Paul Horton, graphic services manager, have left the company.

Birch said: ‘Our recent success in working with brands on their sustainable packaging requirements has come as a result of creating a highly integrated approach to our new product development process; having sales, marketing and the innovation team working closely together to quickly and smoothly meet client needs. As such, we are pleased to formally merge our teams together to ensure we deliver right first time solutions, with great speed to market, to delight our clients long in to the future.’
