Pixartprinting appoints new board

Pixartprinting, Italy's largest web-only manufacturing company, has elected a new board, with managing director Paolo Roatta and plant manager Alessio Piazetta joining to lead the company’s future growth.

Paolo Roatta was appointed as Pixartprinting managing director on July 1

Roatta was appointed as Pixartprinting managing director on July 1. With a background including time spent at Procter & Gamble and Bertelsmann, and as an entrepreneur at innovative tech start-ups, Paolo Roatta has worked in Brussels, London, New York, Rome and Milan. His expertise ranges from publishing and entertainment, to mobile technology and e-commerce. He also founded a mobile services company based on a distance-selling platform with millions of active users. Pixartprinting has identified these skills as being important to continuing the firm's progress towards its ambitious international growth and development objectives.

At the same time, Pixartprinting CEO Alessandro Tenderini is stepping down from his position

Tenderini began his career at Pixartprinting in 1998, alongside founder Matteo Rigamonti. At the time, the company was a start-up transitioning from a bureau service for printers into a pure web-to-print firm. Over the years, it has also evolved from a family-owned business to a corporate outfit with the sale to the Alcedo private equity firm, through to joining Cimpress in 2014. The Cimpress brand portfolio includes Vistaprint, Albelli, Drukwerkdeal, Pixartprinting, Exaprint and others.

‘After 18 years, I'm confident that I have taken Pixartprinting into adulthood,’ commented Tenderini. ‘Today, the company is one of Cimpress's outstanding brands, thanks to its technological innovation and production structure; what's more, it’s often a starting point for developing new models for the whole mass-customization platform. This experience has provided me with a unique career path, allowing me to coordinate research and innovation in a global setting.

‘Today I am pleased to announce that Paolo Roatta will take up the reins. With his impressive entrepreneurial experience and skill in leading globally minded companies, Roatta will ensure Pixartprinting's development remains relentless, guiding the company to success in its challenging objectives.’

Pixartprinting offers labels, stickers and tags, including domed labels, paper tags and PVC tags, as part of a portfolio extending from personalized packaging to small and large format work, textile printing and interior decoration. The company has recorded double-digit growth in turnover in each of the past five years, with more than 200,000 active clients last year. It hired 100 new staff in 2016, with a similar number planned for 2017.

Roatta has described his appointment at Pixartprinting as ‘an honor’ as it is a company, ‘which in combining Italian creativity with technological innovation has established itself as a major player, not just in Italy, but in Spain, Portugal and France too.

‘My job will be to focus on internationalizing the company, developing new products designed to meet demand from our customers in Europe and beyond.’
