PowerID appoints new European director of sales

PowerID, the industry provider of battery-assisted, passive (BAP) RFID technology, has opened its new European offices in The Netherlands, and has appointed of Fred de Haas as director of sales, Europe.

In line with PowerID’s go-to-market strategy and expansion of North American activities announced in November 2007, PowerID has positioned itself to address the needs of the local market in a timely manner.

Fred de Haas has over 25 years of experience in sales of radio frequency technologies. Prior to joining PowerID, he served as Checkpoint Systems’s business development director - apparel in Europe, and most recently as MD, Benelux. Under his leadership, de Haas was responsible for the first RFID trial at Gerry Weber International AG, a Germany-based global operating fashion and lifestyle company.

’The opening of our new European offices and the appointment of Fred de Haas are in line with our strategic plan,’ said Lior Rapaport, PowerID’s VP of sales. ‘We wanted offices that were centrally located within Europe and a highly regarded professional to direct European sales.’

De Haas has served as the treasurer for the Dutch Packaging Institute, as a member of the standardization committee for RFID for the apparel industry, and as a member of the Belgium/Netherlands Chamber of Commerce. He holds a BA in Commercial Economics from the Hogeschool in Hoorn.
