Sappi Europe appoints new VP

Steffen Wurdinger, Sappi Europe's Ehingen Mill director, has been promoted to the position of vice president of manufacturing, R&D and technology.

Wurdinger started at Ehingen Mill in March 1991 as head of technology, rising to PQM manager in 1994. From 2003 to 2005 he was technical director at Cloquet Mill in the US, before returning to Europe to support the Geminus project in Ehingen. He took over as Ehingen Mill director in October 2006.

Wurdinger took up his new role on January 1, and has become a member of Sappi’s European management team.

He succeeds Mat Quaedvlieg who retired from the position at the end of 2016 after a 42-year career with Sappi. He will continue as vice president, strategic business projects on a part time basis.

The successor to Wurdinger as Ehingen Mill director will be announced in due course.
