Thinfilm appoints Kevin Barber as new CEO

Thinfilm has named Kevin Barber as its new CEO, effective from November 26.

Prior to joining Thinfilm, Barber served as senior vice president of the general mobile division at Synaptics. Barber drove the strategy, business development, M&A and execution of growing revenue fourfold to over $1 billion USD annually. 

Barber has also served as CEO of Acco Semiconductor, a venture capital funded start-up, and as senior vice president, general manager of the mobile business at Skyworks Solutions. As senior vice president, operations at Conexant, Barber lead its strategic efforts of global manufacturing scale, technology development, and supply chain management. Barber currently serves as a board director at Intevac.

Thinfilm’s current CEO, Dr Davor P. Sutija, is stepping down from the position having served in the role since July 2010.

During his tenure as CEO, Thinfilm noted that Sutija has led the transformation of the company into a leading player in the printed electronics market, enabling the ‘Internet of Everything’ through its NFC technology. 

The Thinfilm board said: ‘We would like to thank Davor for his significant contributions. Thinfilm today maintains a strong and dedicated team with significant industry experience. Thinfilm is rapidly entering the volume commercialization phase with its NFC solutions.’
