Wavetrend has appointed Saleem Miyan as the company's new chief executive officer.  Miyan, formerly VP of worldwide sales, marketing & professional services at Wavetrend, officially began his new appointment on September 10, 2007. Sales directors in each of Wavetrend's global operating offices will continue to report directly to him.

‘The principal focus of the company will be to continue to build on its global presence in Active RFID solutions,’ Miyan said. ‘With more than 2,500 customer installations worldwide, few companies have the experience and scalability offered to Wavetrend's customers and partners today. We have a strong senior management team in place, and the company and its staff will continue to focus its energy and passion on delivering high-quality, fit-for-purpose technology and application solutions to deliver maximum benefit to our customers.’

‘Saleem has been on the board of directors of Wavetrend since joining the company in January 2007,’ said Wavetrend chairman Nigel Spray. ‘He has made a dramatic difference in the development and positioning the company. He has been a key part of the company's successes during the past several months, and we are delighted that he has accepted the position as the company's new CEO.’

Miyan has worked in the Automatic Identification industry for the past 14 years. Prior to joining Wavetrend, he served as VP and GM of Checkpoint Systems, Inc., overseeing their global RFID and emerging technologies business.  He has also worked as a managing consultant for Ernst & Young in both London and Chicago, overseeing a team of 30 systems and software experts. He began his career as a business systems analyst with British Airways in the UK, eventually rising to a corporate systems project management position. Miyan has a Masters degree in project management and psychology and a Bachelors degree in software engineering.
