ePac Flexible Packaging commences operations in New England

ePac Flexible Packaging, a specialist in quick turn, short to medium runs of flexible packaging, is to open a plant in Boston, Massachusetts to serve the market in New England.

ePac uses HP Indigo 20000 digital presses to produce flexible packaging

The digital printing plant is expected to be operational in early 2019. A local sales office will be opened immediately while orders are fulfilled by another ePac location. ePac Boston will be formed as a partnership between ePac Holdings and Woodhaven Capital Partners, a Chicago-based private investment firm.

ePac chief operating officer Virag Patel said: ‘The New England area has a tremendous number of small and medium size brands that want an option to waiting 6-12 weeks for their packaging to arrive. ePac eliminates the need to order unnecessarily long runs or source their packaging from overseas.’

Tim Novak, managing partner of Woodhaven Capital Partners and managing partner of ePac Boston, said: ‘At Woodhaven, we spent a lot of time analyzing ePac’s business model, performance, and market opportunity, and believe this to be an outstanding opportunity for our investor group, and one that I am personally committed to.’

ePac first opened for business in May 2016 in Madison, Wisconsin, and has since added plants in Boulder (Colorado), Chicago and Miami. Additional locations in Austin (Texas) and Los Angeles are underway. This extended footprint, of all digital full-service flexible packaging plants across the US, provides brands of all sizes the ability to introduce new products faster, run more promotions, make changes on the fly and order to demand. ePac uses HP Indigo 20000 digital presses to produce flexible packaging. This allows it to reduce manufacturing lead times from months to weeks, enables custom printing, and is able to use print-on-demand to eliminate inventory and obsolescence expense.

Patel noted: ‘ePac plants are located in communities across the US and become an important member of the business infrastructure in each market they serve.’
