The construction of the facility, which will require an investment of 20 million euros, is the first time ITASA has built a new plant outside its headquarters in Spain. The estimated production capacity of the plant will be more than 150 million square meters.

ITASA has chosen to set up in Querétaro because it is a perfect location to serve its customers in the United States and Latin America. The launch will enable the company to position itself with greater guarantees and accessibility in the growing release liners market, improving the response capacity and flexibility for customers operating in the area.

The new plant, whose construction will be completed this November, will have a production area of 6,000 square meters with the possibility to expand. It will initially provide employment for a staff of 30 people which will increase to 50 people in late 2019, when production is expected to be at full capacity.

According to Olivier Lavaud, general manager of ITASA, ‘The construction of a plant in Mexico is part of ITASA's vision: to be a global producer of silicone liners and support market leaders around the world.’

ITASA's launch in the Americas is part of the company’s commitment to internationalization, which already led to the acquisition of a production plant in Malaysia two years ago.

ITASA has been manufacturing high-quality silicone paper since 1974 for different applications in sectors such as self-adhesive tape, labels, composites, medicine, graphic arts, hygiene and more. Based in Andoain, it has cemented its success by maintaining constant investment, allowing it to create a strong presence on five continents.

This investment has exceeded 30 million euros in recent years. Currently, the company has an installed production capacity of 750 million sqm per year. It exports more than 80 percent of its production to more than 60 countries and is making strong progress in the Middle East, Asia and Latin America. ITASA has experienced 40 percent growth since 2013 and its turnover exceeded 80 million euros in 2017.
