Ofru Recycling marks 40th anniversary with renewed focus on environmentally friendly use of chemicals

The company has been manufacturing distillation plants for the recovery of contaminated solvents since 1978. The plant manufacturer focuses on the environmentally friendly use of chemicals in an effort to, ‘make the world a little bit greener every day.’

In a similar way to spirits production, the Ofru plants work on the distillation principle. Industrial chemicals and liquid flammable solvents such as acetone, thinner, ethyl acetate and toluene, as well as many other solvents, are distilled using these plants. The recycling plants developed by Ofru treat liquid hazardous waste and reduce in-house carbon dioxide emissions, supporting recycling management and sustainable chemicals handling.

With a daily capacity of 100 to 40,000 litres, the treatment plants are manufactured in Alzenau in Germany.

Now active on an international level, the company was founded as an offshoot of the American Ransburg Corporation, today better known as ITW Ransburg. Ofru Recycling developed one of the first vacuum evaporators in the 1970s, as well as establishing the now well-known distillation technology for flammable liquids on the German market.

Continuous investment was made in expansion abroad at the start of the 1990s. The company cited huge demand for German environmental technology. Ofru Recycling has an export share of over 80 percent, supported by an extensive sales network and a multilingual in-house sales team.
