SA Litho moves into shrink sleeves

Cape Town-based SA Litho has entered the shrink sleeve market with the establishment of a specialist department and a skilled team of experts.

SA Litho moves into shrink sleeves

SA Litho, part of the burgeoning CTP Packaging business, is renowned as a producer of wet-glue and self-adhesive labels, utilizing offset litho, flexo and digital printing technologies.

The move into shrink sleeves forms part of the printer’s diversification strategy.

‘We started investigating entry into the shrink sleeve market about 18 months ago,’ explained Leon Witbooi, managing director of CTP Packaging Western Cape. ‘This decision was taken in the face of the ever-increasing popularity of shrink sleeves and the sector’s compound annual growth rate that exceeds traditional labelling solutions.

‘At that time, our greatest challenge was a lack of the requisite technical skills and equipment, which resulted in our decision to source the necessary skills and to make the appropriate capital investment.’

SA Litho’s recently-renovated facility now boasts a specialized shrink sleeve department, plus a skilled team of experts in the shrink market. The choice of technology followed a detailed investigation into available seaming equipment, resulting in investment in Accraply technology.
