Thinfilm Joins NFC Forum board of directors

Giampaolo Marino, executive vice president, Hardware Solutions, Thinfilm, said: ‘We thank the NFC Forum board of directors for welcoming Thinfilm and look forward to contributing to the growth and success of this critical technology on a global basis. As billions of consumers now have access to NFC technology on their smartphones, the NFC industry is creating compelling new experiences that effortlessly and elegantly link the physical and digital worlds.’

Thinfilm has been a principal member of the NFC Forum since 2014 and will join Apple, Dai Nippon Printing, Google, Infineon, MasterCard Worldwide, NXP, Qualcomm, Samsung, Sony, STMicroelectronics and Visa on the NFC Forum board of directors.  Thinfilm’s elevated position will allow it to expand on its technical and marketing contributions to the NFC Forum assuming a greater leadership role in the organization.

Sponsor level is the top tier of NFC Forum membership. It entitles an organization to a seat on the NFC Forum board of directors, the consortium’s governing body, and to run for officer positions.

‘The NFC Forum is excited to welcome Thinfilm to the NFC Forum board of directors and looks forward to their expanding role in the NFC Forum,’ said Paula Hunter, executive director, NFC Forum. ‘Thinfilm has played a significant role at the NFC Forum over the last few years by supporting NFC specifications, participating in advocacy activities and serving as chair of the NFC Forum’s retail and payment special interest group.’

Three other companies, Amphenol Tecvox, Crocus Nano Electronics and Riddle & Code, joined the world’s leading standards and advocacy association for Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, thus, increasing the number of NFC Forum member organizations to nearly 140 worldwide.
