Zonten, Konica Minolta agree strategic cooperation in China

Shanghai Zonten has concluded a strategic agreement with Konica Minolta Business Solutions (China) as part of its growth into digital printing.

Initially, Zonten is to be the agent of Konica Minolta, although the development of digital-flexo hybrid systems is planned.

Zonten general manager Lin Xiaoyu said: ‘Zonten has been engaged in the label market for 18 years, and has been focusing on the R&D, manufacturing, sales and services supply for conventional label printing facilities. The cooperation with Konica Minolta is a good supplement for Zhongtian in digital printing facilities and products, and also complies with customers’ requirements of transition from traditional to digital printing.’

Steel Li, general manager of the Printing System Operation division of Konica Minolta, said: ‘Digital printing accounts for less than five percent of the Chinese label market, which is far below the market ratio of that in Europe. As we know, there are a number of label printing factories that are considering the reconstructing or upgrading their digital printing facility. Zonten has plentiful experience and customer resources accumulated from traditional label market, which could assist Chinese customers to know Konica Minolta AccurioLabel 190 digital label press better and quicker. We also believe that the high quality and low consumables of the AccurioLabel 190 digital press will be a good choice for some small and medium label users.’
