ColorGen South Africa implements X-Rite IFS

Ink manufacturer ColorGen South Africa has introduced X-Rite's InkFormulation Software (IFS) program, as it seeks to take color management to ‘new levels of effectiveness’.

The introduction of this software has taken color management at the company to another level

According to ColorGen South Africa sales director Quinten Rodway, the introduction of this software has taken color management at the company to another level, as its customers can now install the PrinterPro version of IFS on their internal systems or in-house ink stores, and can match color in a matter of minutes before going to press.

Rodway said: ‘There's no more downtime because of color variations; and no excess substrate waste while trying to match color on the press.

‘Printing businesses with multiple sites can now run the same jobs in two different regions, or even two different countries, both producing the exact same color just by standardising on spectral data.’

And, since digital label presses generally use a spectrophotometer for initial color set-up and an in-line spectrophotometer to measure color consistency during the run, ColorGen’s system adds even more value for print shops running both flexo and digital presses.

Rodway continued: ‘One customer recently measured a color standard produced on a flexo press, entered the L*a*b* and L*C*H* values into the digital press and reproduced the exact same colors, all within a ΔE (Delta E) of 1.5. As a result, we achieved labels printed in exactly the same colors produced on two different presses using two different processes.’
