The 12-color press, installed at the company’s 26,000 sq ft factory of the company, features cold foil, rotary screen and a die-cutting unit. Gururaj Ballarwad of Signode India said: ‘We are delighted with the performance of the press and are initially printing self-adhesive paper jobs on it. We have converted approximately 400,000 sqm of labelstock since its installation in May 2018. The operators were trained to run the press in a week’s time.’

With this expansion, the company’s Bengaluru plant now houses four Gallus press and one Iwasaki offset press. The second plant of Signode India in Rudrapur runs two Gallus presses.

To support the new machine, Signode India has also invested in two new Rotoflex slitter rewinders with Nikka inspection cameras. Existing finishing capabilities across both plants also include five slitter rewinders from Prati, and one each from Pulisi and Hilden.

The press was sold to the company at Labelexpo Europe 2017 where it was also officially launched. With maximum running speed of 200m/min, the press comes with both hot air drying and UV curing. It can print on a variety of substrates including paper, self-adhesive material, cardboard, monofoil label material and tube laminate.
