HP and LVAI Holdings have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that will see the Chinese candy packaging specialist increase its HP Indigo 20000 digital press fleet to eight

LVAI installed its first HP Indigo 20000 in 2016 (read more in Labels & Labeling issue 5, 2016 and here). Increasing its number of HP Indigo 20000 digital presses to eight will allow LVAI to grow its business in the customizable flexible packaging market.

The additional HP Indigo 20000 digital presses will help LVAI transform into an automated production model that boosts productivity, accelerates speed to market and delivers quality customization, according to HP.

Further, the new installations – scheduled to be delivered in 2019 – will be the largest deployment of the HP Indigo 20000 digital press to date in the Asia-Pacific region and Japan (APJ).

Alon Bar-Shany, HP Indigo general manager, said: ‘The new order from LVAI validates the value of HP Indigo 20000 digitally printed flexible packaging. The HP Indigo solution offers lower environmental impact by eliminating many steps of printing process and supply chain efficiency, while also opening new opportunities for business growth with mass customization for brand marketing campaigns.

‘HP Indigo looks forward to continued collaboration with the flexible packaging industry in China to transform existing business models.

LVAI Holdings CEO Guo Jianbo commented: ‘Digital printing brings us not only the change of printing method but also a change in business philosophy.

‘This deeper partnership with HP Indigo is a big step forward for LVAI, as we are committed to becoming the world's leading food and beverage packaging and value-added service provider. In the future, LVAI will invest billions of yuan to build a food and beverage industry ecosystem in Shandong Province, aiming to provide brands with end-to-end solutions including product development, brand consulting and packaging design.’

Together with the new rollout with LVAI, HP has also received purchase orders for HP Indigo 20000 digital presses from Yuncheng Plate-making and Guangzhou Kelin. ePac Flexible Packaging, an American supplier of flexible packaging, continues to expand its capabilities with an order for 20 HP Indigo 20000 digital presses.
