ProPrint adopts Ravenwood technology to enhance position in linerless

ProPrint is a ‘non-plastic’ supplier to the fresh food market through a diversified packaging and labeling product portfolio. As well as linerless, ProPrint’s label offering includes self-adhesive, peel and reveal multi-page, foil, digital and retail promotional labels. Having rebranded in 2016, ProPrint also supplies cartons, produced from paper and board, in addition to labels.

The new coater will be installed at ProPrint’s Wellingborough factory alongside a new state-of-the-art 10-color press, with a projected print run in the region of 500,000 linerless labels per day. Designed and manufactured in the UK, the Com500 is the only machine dedicated to running Ravenwood linerless labels.

The addition of Ravenwood linerless technology is claimed to offer a cost effective and sustainable option for a, ‘fresh approach in driving business operations forward,’ according to the printer. ProPrint is seeing customer demand for more environmentally friendly labeling and packaging options increasing in light of packaging problems linked to climate change. Linerless is a specialist process, resulting in label reels that have no backing paper. Eliminating the release liner carries many benefits, with Ravenwood noting less waste, reduced landfill disposal costs and a much-reduced carbon footprint.

Graham Bonus, ProPrint sales director, said: ‘ProPrint is excited to be working with Ravenwood and is looking forward to following Ravenwood’s strict code of ethics for producing faultless linerless labels, as we become official members of the “Circle of Linerless”. We have worked hard over recent years to forge a successful business, built on exceptional service and trust by our customers in the fresh food sector. To now be able to supply Ravenwood approved linerless labels is something we believe will open up new opportunities for delivering high speed, sustainable and cost-effective solutions to new and existing customers.’

ProPrint is the latest printer to join Ravenwood’s growing network, offering an exclusive service to both the UK and Ireland. This latest partnership now brings Ravenwood’s UK based network to a total of three.

Ravenwood managing director Paul Beamish said: ‘We’re delighted to have ProPrint on board with our linerless technology. The ProPrint team are very standards driven, constantly striving to be the best in market with their range of non-plastic, environmentally friendly packaging solutions.’

ProPrint has appointed Andy Clark to drive its growth in linerless labels.
