DiMS! awarded four JDF certifications

DiMS! organizing print, a supplier of MIS systems for the printing and packaging industries, has been awarded four JDF certifications from Printing Industries of America – the official certification body for CIP4. DiMS! achieved the highest MIS-ICS level of conformance currently possible in terms of JDF submission and JMF handling. The following JDF certifications were achieved: MIS to Prepress ICS; MIS to Conventional Printing ICS (Sheetfed); MIS to WebPress ICS (Commercial Web); and Layout Creator to Imposition ICS and Base ICS.

DiMS! is the first company to be JDF certified for commercial web. All of the above ICS’s are, within their category, at the highest level of certification currently available.

In order to achieve all ICS levels of certification, the DiMS! system was required to pass the Job Definition Format (JDF) testing process provided by Printing Industries of America. The DiMS! system is now certified, not only because it creates and accepts job details while running via JMF (Job Messaging Format), but also because it includes within the job ticket all the information and details regarding the job, and then relays this via JDF interfacing to the pre-press and press systems. These systems then interpret and respectively re-build the layout, establish impositions, or send the necessary information to the press.

‘We are happy that our highly skilled technicians successfully worked together with Printing Industries of America, and achieved this high standard of interfacing,’ commented Tonnie Marneth, CTO DiMS! organizing print. ‘We made the decision to create and certify these interfaces at the highest JDF protocol level, because only at this level our customers will truly benefit from the impact and cost savings they are looking for. We will continue to enhance our product to the latest technologies available and create opportunities for our customers to further enhance their business performance. We look forward to working more with Printing Industries of America on future projects.’

‘During the testing with DiMS! it was commented that the display interface was well rounded and information could be located easily, critical in today’s economic environment. By participating in the new certification program and receiving these four JDF certifications, this shows a great commitment by DiMS! to both JDF integration and interoperability for their customers and the ease of implementation with other systems,’ said Dr Mark Bohan, vice president, technology and research, Printing Industries of America.
