AB Graphic said a strategy of continuous development has consolidated its position as a leading, worldwide supplier of label converting systems over six decades.

Established in 1954 by George H. Burton as Burton Engineering, AB Graphic has remained a wholly-owned family business within the worldwide label converting industry. In its early years, the company’s focus was on producing a range of tag and ticket converting lines within the paper converting industry.

In 1977 the company re-branded and AB Graphic was established, broadening its product offering to the wide range of label finishing and inspection/rewinding systems it now offers. The acquisition of a number of industry related manufacturing operations in the years from 1983 to 1994 further broadened engineering capabilities to encompass the Vectra range of turret rewinders.

Sales and manufacturing operations were established in Holland, Spain and the United States in the years from 1989 to 1999, followed more recently by operations in France and Germany.

Significant milestones in the company’s history include a move to new premises in 2006 bringing all its UK manufacturing operations under one roof, and the expansion of its capabilities in relation to digital printing technology with the introduction of the Omega Digicon series label converting line in 2008.

The development of the Omega Digicon with enhancements and finishing modules aimed at fully automating the label printing process continues, as seen with the launch of the Omega Digicon Series 3 earlier this year.
