Signs exclusive licensing agreement for distribution to the wine industry
Avery Denison Foundation has named the winners of this year’s Innovation (InvEnt) Scholarship, which is intended to recognize and cultivate ‘outstanding young’ in the country, explained the company.
At an event in Kunshan, China on August 4, 10 students from East China University of Science and Technology, Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication and Wuhan University were awarded scholarships, receiving 1,300 USD from Avery Denison Foundation. Founded in 2008, the InvEnt Scholarship Program as awarded a total of 362,400 USD in scholarships to 116 winners to date. College students who achieve this scholarship should not only have ‘excellent performance’ in academic courses, but also have innovative talents in the field of science, engineering and technology.
Alicia Procello, chairman of the Avery Dennison Foundation and vice president of corporate social responsibility at the supplier, said: ‘Each year, we select scholarship winners according to the students’ creativity and ability to solve practical problems, which are shown in their application materials. We hope that our scholarship will inspire the enthusiasm of each student and enable them to continue to exploit their talents to become the future stars of society.’
A special guest at the ceremony was Hao Cheng, a scholarship winner in 2009 and who started his own business after achieving his Master’s degree. ‘The scholarship urged me to think and act bravely,’ he said. ‘Now, my company is making 3D animations for local brands to showcase their products and help them to expand their businesses into global markets. I’m proud that I could make some contribution to the transition from “made in China” to “created in China”.’
After the ceremony, all the winners visited the innovation workshop of Avery Dennison and listened to the influence of innovation on an enterprise.
