Baker Labels to install first Nilpeter FB-3 in the UK

Baker Self Adhesive Labels is to install the first Nilpeter FB-3 flexo press in the UK this autumn, as it continues its investment strategy in its printing capabilities.

Baker Labels will install the first FB-3 in the UK in September

The FB-3 destined for Baker Labels is an eight color, full UV press with four additional hot air dryers, so can handle both water-based and UV inks.

A turn bar guides the web allowing back printing for peel and reveal labels, with a de-lam/re-lam unit further adding to its capability to produce peel and reveal labels.

Multiple, mobile towers can be used at any head for laminating, cold foil and introducing pre-printed webs, and dual die-cutting stations allow cutting on both the front and back.

The press will be installed this September, and follows an investment in digital printing, where Baker Labels added a third HP Indigo press, a WS6600, in January of this year. Watch a video about the Baker Labels WS6600 investment here.

Baker Labels now produces more than 50,000 digital impressions per day, however it is keen to continue to invest in the latest developments in conventional printing and to offer complementary technologies. As such, it has also purchased an HSR 330 slitter rewinder from AB Graphic to complement the Nilpeter press.

Steve Baker, Baker Labels managing director, said: ‘Both digital and flexo processes have unique qualities and it’s important that we stay on top of both markets to ensure that we can deliver first class labels to our diverse customer base.

‘The purchase of the FB-3 will allow us to meet the growing demand for labels economically whilst maintaining exact color matching, a prerequisite for big brands.’

‘The purchase of the FB-3 and HSR 330 is intended to bridge the gap in quality between Indigo and flexo printing,’ added Jamie Doogan, sales manager at Baker Labels.
