BGM organizes fund-raising event

Five staff from Bradford, UK-based Bar Graphic Machinery are helping raise funds for the family of a local mum-of-four fighting advanced bowel cancer who is facing having to sell the family home to pay for pioneering life-saving treatment in Germany.

Sally Major and her husband Liam have already sold the family car and other possessions to get the latest therapy, which is not available on the UK’s National Health Service.

Each treatment costs £25,000 GBP – but the longer the gap between treatments, the less likely they are to work. So for Sally and her family it's a life-or-death race against time to raise the money needed.

Bar Graphic Machinery managing director Annemarie Rhodes has recruited five of her staff who have volunteered to be body-waxed – live online – this Monday night, March 27, at 6:00pm GMT, at the Bold Privateer, Wrose road, Bradford.

Even though Sally's treatment in Germany is in its early stages, initial results are encouraging. Her tumor markers have almost halved, her liver function has doubled and kidney function returned to normal – all signs that the treatment appears to be working.

Although doctors say the complete course of treatment could cost £300,000 GBP, Bar Graphics' Annemarie Rhodes believes it can be found: ‘£300k might be a massive amount of money, but it's not impossible if people everywhere get behind the campaign.

‘All donations would be greatly appreciated.
