Bobst and partners host successful roadshow in Mexico

Bobst, in collaboration with a host of industry supplier partners, has hosted a successful roadshow event in Mexico that attracted a large number of owners and decision makers from the country’s packaging industry.

More than 100 attended the Bobst and partners roadshow event in Mexico City on July 14

Focused on the latest innovations and trends in flexible packaging production, the Bobst and partners roadshow event, held in Mexico City on July 14, brought together over 100 high-level representatives of the Mexican flexible packaging industry. Speakers updated attendees on the latest developments in the areas of machinery, consumables, materials and processes for package printing and converting.

Bobst and partner companies Atlas Converting Equipment, Coim, Daetwyler Graphics, Daetwyler Swisstec, Graficas Villalba, Rossini and Schmid Rhyner tackled a wide variety of issues, analysing challenges and presenting technologies and options in their respective fields of expertise. Complementing the technical presentations, was an insight on the needs, trends and challenges in the flexible sector of Mexico’s packaging industry from Salvador Olvera of Mars Mexico Pet Care.

Further addresses were made by Ruben Araiza, director of the business hub of the embassy of Switzerland, and Hiram Cruz, director of Asociación Mexicana del Envase y Embalaje, as well as Eric Pavone, Bobst web-fed business unit director, who said: ‘The Mexican population continues to grow at rates over one percent with the working-age population largely urbanized and leading busy lives. As a result, the demand for packaged and prepared foods is continuously growing and along with it the demand for high quality look and feel packaging as can only be provided by state-of-the-art printing and converting equipment. However, the demographic trend is not the only driver for the Mexican packaging industry. Another important driver is the geographical proximity to the US which makes Mexico an attractive country for investment.

‘Our offering of equipment, including flexo, gravure, coating and laminating, and vacuum metallizing is perfectly targeted to the demand for efficiency and quality of the Mexican market. With Mexico being a strong flexo printing market, this applies particularly to the F&K 20SIX flexo press which covers all needs of flexible packaging printing.’

Bobst and partners have held other successful roadshows in Vietnam and Pakistan this year.
