The bottles, available in Thailand, use the Intact system, which combines Selinko’s ORM software platform, Inside Secure’s Vault IC 154 NFC chip and patent pending capSeal opening detection technology, and Amcor smart capsules.

A consumer scanning a bottle with the Johnnie Walker interactive app is given access to an exclusive range of privileges, from personalized VIP invitations and the possibility to send personalized digital post cards, to luxury lifestyle content, recipes and more.

Earlier this year, Diageo and Thinfilm exhibited a ‘smart bottle' concept, featuring printed sensor tags, at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The printed sensor tags, as showcased on a Johnnie Walker Blue Label bottle, featured Thinfilm's OpenSense technology, which can detect both the sealed and opened state of each bottle by utilizing NFC capabilities of modern smartphones.

Rémy Martin has also worked with Selinko to introduce a connected Rémy Martin Club bottle featuring an integrated unique and tamperproof NFC tag in the capsule. The high-security NFC chip, combined with asymmetric encryption, detects the opening of the bottle and remains active thereafter.
