drupa returns to four-year cycle

drupa has reverted to its established four-year cycle, meaning the next edition of the show will take place in 2020.

drupa is to revert to a four-year cycle having initially planned a move to a three-year cycle

Messe Düsseldorf, the organizers of drupa, had planned to move the event to a three-year cycle, meaning the next edition of the show, currently running in Düsseldorf, Germany, would have taken place in 2019. At the time of the decision to move to a three-year cycle, drupa was also reduced in length to 11 days. This decision is to remain, with drupa 2020 to run June 23 to July 3.

With the decision to move back to a four-year cycle, Messe Düsseldorf said it is responding to the numerous demands voiced by exhibiting industry players.

Werner M. Dornscheidt, president and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf, said: ‘The current drupa, with its outstanding business deals and positive atmosphere really stands out and has made one thing perfectly clear: its USP is the production lines that are in full operation. This is one of the reasons why drupa is such a beacon.

‘Precisely this investment – this is what many representatives of the exhibitor community have assured us over the past few days here – they want to be at and with drupa in the future.

‘Therefore in the interest of our customers and international markets, drupa will stick to its four-year cycle.’

Messe Düsseldorf has reported around 200,000 visitors from 183 countries as having visited drupa 2016 so far, which is now into its last few days. Around 78 percent of attendees have visited from overseas.
