Gallus India focuses on training

Gallus India is to put a focus on training in order to help the country’s printers improve their operations in multiple ways, and will be running dedicated training programs for press operators and business owners.

Training in progress on the new Gallus ECS 340 at Avery Dennison Knowledge Center in Bengaluru
The key focus is on improving press efficiencies, print standardization and reducing production costs, according to Samir Patkar, managing director of Gallus India, who said: ‘We shall also place an emphasis on regular press maintenance checks resulting in improved press fitness and less breakdowns.

‘Often incorrect practises lead to reduced press efficiencies and frequent breakdowns so a special focus will be on importance and effective use of utilities covering quality of power supply, voltage stabiliser or UPS, compressed air, chillers or chilled water quality and UV system exhaust.’

An another training initiative by Gallus India will be facilitated by the training of staff at Avery Dennison Knowledge Centre (ADKC) in Bengaluru, where an Gallus ECS 340 was installed in May. Gallus India will first train ADKC staff, who in turn will train further industry personnel.

Features of the Gallus ECS 340, a short web 8-color press, installed at ADKC  include delam, relam, cold foil, screen print and one die-cutting unit, along with other features such as register pre-setting, automatic register control, job data recall, format length correction and dynamic print pressure control. This press is equipped to run multi substrates including shrink sleeves, in-mold, paper, pressure-sensitive stocks, laminate tubes and light boards from 30 to 300 micron. The new press has replaced a previously installed Gallus EM 280.

‘Arising from the market demand to spread technical knowhow, Gallus has installed this press at ADKC to offer knowledge and knowhow on flexographic printing along with press operator training with a key focus on standardization of the printing process for labels,’ said Patkar. ‘The program is well supported by all the partners at ADKC with active participation by all individual partners covering their scope in detail.’

A Gallus specialist had trained ADKC staff on the previously installed EM 280, and who are qualified to operate the press individually. ‘The same training in line with our Gallus global standards is being given to the ADKC staff on the newly installed press also,’ confirmed Patkar. ‘We are very confident that under the guidance and training of Gallus India specialist Michael D’Souza the team of specialists headed by  Naveen Serrao from ADKC will be ready and be fully equipped to run the press shortly.’
