GSE donates kit to Spanish printing school

GSE has donated a table-top Perfect Proofer and its Ink Management Software (IMS) to the Tajamar School of Printing, in Madrid, Spain, to enhance the understanding of flexography, and the importance of color, print quality and efficient production.

The Perfect Proofer donated by GSE in operation at Tajamar School of Business

The Perfect Proofer, which replicates the exact conditions of a flexo press, is suited for proofing inks and optimizing print quality before putting jobs into production. Pressure, speed, plate type, doctor blades and anilox specifications can all be adjusted, and the results seen immediately.

IMS will enable Tajamar to use the latest software to train its students, giving them a hands-on understanding of the benefits of the technology and its contribution to color quality assurance and waste elimination in the print workflow. Among the software’s features are precise formula preparation and accurate batch tracking, while its reporting function gives users improved cost and stock management.

Tajamar offers a comprehensive educational program with strong vocational and technology elements. The printing school continues to grow, driven by the demands of the labels and flexible packaging sectors, and has around 350 students, with an annual admission level of about 90 students.

‘The proofer from GSE Dispensing is perfect for training,’ said Javier Rodriguez-Borlado, head of studies, and a former student at Tajamar. ‘It enables students to see it, touch it, and learn the effect of changing different settings.’

Maarten Hummelen, GSE marketing director, commented: ‘We hope that the experience of working with the Perfect Proofer and IMS will advance the knowledge of the latest best practices, especially those associated with lean manufacturing.

‘Packaging and label printing is increasingly service-oriented, and the industry seeks smarter approaches to waste and quality control in order to stay competitive. We believe the tools we have provided will teach Tajamar’s students the skills necessary to secure rewarding jobs, and take the latest techniques to their employers.’
