Heidelberg joins GWG

Ghent Workgroup (GWG) has seen Heidelberg, CIP4, Xerox Impika and PB-Consult join the international standards organization for graphic arts in recent months, which it said will contribute to forward-thinking developments, reflected in the free and easily downloaded specifications built specifically for numerous applications which ensure successful creation, processing and exchange of graphic arts documents.

Heidelberg joins Ghent Workgroup

GWG is an international assembly of industry associations and suppliers from across Europe and the US with the objective to establish and disseminate process specifications for best practices in graphic arts workflows. Since its inception more than a decade ago GWG has consistently produced numerous process specifications for PDF exchange, as well as developing useful tools for automating processes and establishing consistent PDFs for print and publishing, which are all available for free on its website.

GWG work efforts also include many contributions to Technical Committee (TC) 130, appointed by the International Organization for Standardization, to develop working standards for graphic technology.

Heidelberg and Xerox Impika have joined as GWG vendor members, and follow Adobe, Agfa, Callas Software, Dalim Software, EFI, Enfocus, Esko, GMG,  Kodak, Océ and Quark as vendor members. David Zwang, GWG chairman, said: ‘We extend a warm welcome to our newest members, who we are confident will contribute critical and unique input for those involved with publishing and packaging workflows. We look forward to having even more talented people, and companies, join the organization.’

GWG stages three meetings a year with the next in San Jose, California on October 14-16 to be hosted by Adobe.
