Henkel enhances Food Safe Packaging program

Adhesives specialist Henkel has added to its Food Safe Packaging knowledge platform to include further webinars and an updated premium area.

Henkel said food packaging safety is an issue important to, with the food packaging applications for which Henkel adhesives are used ranging from cereal boxes, beverage bottle labeling and glossy pouch packages for potato chips, to film packaging for sausage, cured meats and cheese.

Henkel's Food Safe Packaging initiative addresses food safety officers, quality managers, packaging developers, buyers and other stakeholders from the food and beverage industry who wish to learn more about the issues and developments relating to this important subject.

Launched two years ago, the Food Safe Packaging initiative offers access to white papers, webinars and videos dealing with key matters of food safe packaging, through an online portal.

Webinars have been a central element of Henkel’s work in promoting food safe packaging.

A forthcoming webinar, on April 24, will address ways to improve food safety with Dr Monika Tönnießen, responsible for Henkel's European product safety and regulatory affairs within the company’s adhesive technologies division, leading the discussion.

This, and future webinars, will take place twice, with a 09:00 CET start for those to the east of mainland Europe and again at 16:00 CET for those to the west. Henkel said this takes into consideration different time zones around the world.

An updated premium area now features white papers translated into several European languages, and a new white paper was recently published on how demographic changes impact packaging design.

Further, new questions have been added to the FAQ section, and addressing many of the questions asked in the course of the live webinars regarding paper packaging, raw materials and flexible packaging.

The latest update to the Food Safe Packaging portal follows improvements made at the end of 2014.
