The Phoenix Challenge Foundation (PCF) has scheduled the 2014 flexographic printing High School Competition for March 19-21 at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina

The competition, now in its 17th year, sees graphic arts students and teachers from throughout the US and Canada partake in a two and a half-day skills-based competition with hands-on and comprehensive testing in printing mathematics, operating a flexo press, pre-press, platemaking and overall flexo knowledge.

A judging group made up of industry professionals and educators will score a variety of skills sessions and live action prepress and on-press activities, then score each team for final winners of the competition. Winning teams are rewarded top honors and individual scholarships at the close of the competition, all funded by the Phoenix Challenge Foundation.

Bettlylyn Krafft, PCF chairman, said: ‘I am so excited to see the Phoenix Challenge High School Competition grow every year.

‘This year we are expecting more than 50 students. Its popularity shows me the industry is a great place to build a career and job path.’
