Kama reports record sales in most successful year

Germany-based Kama has reported the most successful year in the company’s history and closed the 2016-17 financial year with record sales of 14.75 million EUR.

Kama’s FF 52i machine has been designed to meet growing demand for versioned and personalized folding cartons, as well as delivery on-demand

This equates to an increase in sales on the previous year of 13 percent, while Kama CEO Marcus Tralau added: ‘In our core business, the construction and sale of own machines, we even realized a growth of 30 percent.’

Kama’s FF 52i machine has been designed to meet growing demand for versioned and personalized folding cartons, as well as delivery on-demand.

‘The novelties we presented at drupa 2016 – the world’s first folder gluer for short and digitally printed runs in particular – have been very well received in the market,’ continued Tralau.

The new generation of die-cutting and embellishing machines – ProCut 76 Foil and Kama DC 76 ASB –, and the ProFold 74 for folding, gluing and dispensing, have contributed to the sales increase, according to the company.

The machine manufacturer from Dresden said it saw around 40 percent of its sales in Western and Eastern Europe, with 10 percent in the Middle East and Africa, and 26 percent to the Americas and in 23 percent in Asia. The strongest individual countries were Germany, China and the US.

Tralau and Kama managing director Steffen Pieper predict the company will continue to grow in the future.

‘The packaging market entry was successful, our main pillar in job printing is stable and the new products are well received. We anticipate a slight increase at a high level.

‘We take a good order backlog into the new financial year,’ concluded Tralau.
