Kenyan converter installs Focus flexo press

The Paper House of Kenya has installed a new 8-color Proflex 330 Servo flexo press from UK-based manufacturer Focus Label Machinery. This is the first Focus press for the Nairobi-based company, which is a distributor for Arjo-Wiggins paper products as well as a supplier of self-adhesive labels. 

The new press has full UV drying with chill rollers in order to accommodate printing onto unsupported filmic substrates as well as standard labelstock. Additional equipment includes a full servo drive with auto-register, remote modem link, delam/relam cold foil transfer, corona discharge treatment, web cleaner, laminating unwind/rewind, twin rewinds, automatic tension control, sheet conveyor and ultrasonic anilox cleaner. 

Managing director of Paper House Gilford Mutegi said: ‘We were looking for a high quality, servo-driven flexo press capable of printing onto lightweight unsupported films, as well as self-adhesive paper.

We had seen Focus presses several times at various exhibitions and had been impressed with the general build quality. However, we needed to be sure that Focus could meet all our requirements, so we visited the UK to see the Proflex Servo press, installed in their demonstration facility. We were not disappointed.

The Proflex press maintained excellent print registration on paper and on films, without any compromise on production speeds. The print quality was exceptional and we were very impressed with the level of sophistication offered by the press. We knew that this was the right choice for us. 

‘We were also very pleased to see that Focus is a true engineering company and manufactures the majority of the components used in their equipment, including all electrical control panels. This was reassuring for us, since we would be relying on Focus for technical back up and after sales service.’
