Labels & Labeling to partner with Avery Dennison for wine labeling webinar

The webinar will host a panel of wine label experts from material suppliers to brand owners.

Participants will learn what trends are happening in the greater wine market, how wineries can use labels as a brand communication piece, what new label materials are available and popular, and how advanced technology and finishing techniques can enhance a label's presence on-shelf.

The webinar will take place on June 18 at 10am Pacific/12pm Central/ 1pm Eastern, and will be moderated by Danielle Jerschefske, North America editor of Labels & Labeling.

The panelists: are Jim Gordon, the editor of Wines & Vines; Toni Hamilton, director of marketing at ASL PrintFX; and Matt Rompala, wine and spirits business development manager of Avery Dennison.

Gordon will look at wine market growth in the last 10 years, and how labels drove the Top 20 new table wine brands of 2012, while Hamilton will discuss how to make a brand’s wine label striking, considering trends in emerging consumer markets and analyzing the design of the top 10 recognized wine labels.

Hamilton’s Wine Labeling 101 looks at technical aspects in more detail, including how elements such as color, image, clear space and typography are used. Decoration trends are considered, including foils, hot and cold stamp, die cuts, emboss/deboss, varnish and silk screen, as well as where digital, flexography and offset are favored. She also examines marketing aspects such as label on label techniques and interactive labels using QR codes etc.

Rompala will continue the technical and branding themes with a look at the design and performance possibilities offered by pressure sensitive labels using unique facestocks and finishing techniques.
