MacDermid opens new photopolymer plate production line in Tennessee

MacDermid Printing Solutions has opened a new photopolymer plate production line in Morristown, Tennessee, which has almost doubled its manufacturing capacity and shown its 'continued commitment to the packaging industry', according to vice-president and general manager Timothy Gotsick.

The 100ft, fully enclosed photopolymer plate production line is the first new line of its kind to be built in over a decade

The 100ft, fully enclosed photopolymer plate production line is the first new line of its kind to be built in over a decade, MacDermid Printing Solutions said, and features a twin-screw extruder, tank farm, calender, inspection system, laser marking machines and UV lighting/treatment – all integrated within a single control system.

Additionally, new energy efficient features within the line will help to reduce MacDermid Printing Solutions’ per unit greenhouse gas emissions.

Timothy Gotsick, MacDermid Printing Solutions vice-president and general manager, was joined by MacDermid Inc. group president Scot Benson and Dan Leever, chief executive officer of parent company Platform Specialty Products, to open the new line.

Gotsick said: ‘Package printing is the fastest growing segment within the overall printing industry. And by bringing new technology to the package printing industry, MacDermid has achieved tremendous sales growth in the past several years. The next logical step for us was to expand our manufacturing capacity.

‘We are excited to show our continued commitment to the package printing industry with this new investment.’

“We have very ambitious goals,’ Gotsick added. ‘We can always get better, and we intend to do so. We are committed to making the most of this investment.’
