Mark Andy LEDs the way

Mark Andy has sold the 250th Performance Press since it’s introduction four years ago. The buyer was a Spanish converter. Other highlights included a jointly-shared Technology Innovation Award for its energy-saving ProLED LED-UV curing technology, seen running on a Performance Series P3 press. It shared the award with Flint, supplier of the LED-UV curing inks.

Commenting on the process, Mike Russell, MA's international sales director, said, 'The supply of LED-curing inks remains an issue, but I think the take-up will be much quicker than the industry experienced with the adoption of UV flexo inks.'

Another award-winning product is the Quick Change Die Cut (QCDC) technology. As featured in a Labels & Labeling video clip filmed at the show, it is one of the new breed of flexible technologies enhancing the P7 and P5 Performance UV flexo presses. It was designed to overcome the bottlenecks associated with die-cutting change-overs. At 38 inches high, built within a horizontal structure, it allows operators to ergonomically change dies in around 30 seconds, while giving more precise tuning of die-cutting pressures. Another benefit is that it streamlines matrix stripping in a robust manner. QCDC allows users to utilize their existing cartridges with some adaptations to existing tooling.

Mark Andy's exhibits include a new 20-26 inches range of Versa Max presses for producing film-based packaging products. The Rotoflex division introduced a redesigned version of its popular VLC inspection slitter/rewinder.

The QDC system was demonstrated on Mark Andy's Performance Series 7 press at Labelexpo Americas.
