Multitec sells 19 presses in last fiscal year

Of these, 13 are Ecoflex and six are Ecoflex VSi. While Ecoflex is an entry level mechanical press, Ecoflex VSi is a fully servo-driven press with an open design and allows faster job change, has a shorter web path, chill drum for flexible packaging and labels, and many options such as cold-foil stamping, and de-lam/re-lam, amongst others. Ecoflex VSi is capable of printing labels and flexible packaging.

Amit Ahuja, managing director, Multitec, said: ‘In the long run, labels and packaging is the only field that I see will continue to do well. We are trying to adapt our presses to various substrates in order to do a variety of jobs.’

The company has witnessed a growth of 13 percent in the last financial year and exported around 30 percent in value. Multitec shipped it presses to Zambia, Jordan, Sharjah, Nigeria and Iran in the last year. Ahuja also sees the Middle East as one of the hot markets. ‘We are hoping to get two big orders from Lebanon. Dubai and Sharjah are great markets too.’

Pointing at a trend shift in the Indian market, Ahuja notes that ‘label printers abroad always buy a fully loaded press. They like to have as many options as possible.

‘Indian buyers are also making a shift to that now. The trend is shifting to all UV with an average of eight stations.’ 

In the domestic market, the company has sold 64 label presses since 2008 - of these, eight are Ecoflex VSi, the press that was launched at Labelexpo India 2012. ‘This press is picking up now. The next four orders are all Ecoflex VSi.’

For Labelexpo India 2014, Multitec is looking at launching an automated press.

Multitec has two offices in Mumbai and in South for post sales service in India and it is planning to open another one in Pune. The company also has six engineers available on call for service, and sales agents in Lebanon and Jordan, and a sales and service agent in Russia.

Ahuja added that value for money and press quality are the company’s biggest assets. ‘It is the only and the biggest thing we have. Value for money does not imply being cheap. It translates to giving the right product at the right price. ‘We are giving a machine that will generate excellent output at that price.’
