Nuova Gidue to further R&D work after Label Industry Global Awards success

Nuova Gidue president Federico d’Annunzio has hailed the Italian company’s success at the recent Label Industry Global Awards 2014 as ‘high incentive’ to continue development of new technologies for the labels and packaging market.

Nuova Gidue was named as joint winner, alongside Stephanos Karydakis, in the Award for Innovation (under 300 employees) in the Label Industry Global Awards 2014 competition, with the awards presented at a dinner and reception during Labelexpo Americas 2014.

Stephanos Karydakis’s winning innovation was a multi-active label that incorporates thermochromic ink, spot matte and gloss varnish, metalized foil and digital watermarking. Nuova Gidue took the award for its system of technologies under the name Digital Flexo Excellence to digitize and automate the workflow, set-up and running of a flexographic label and packaging press.

Digital Flexo Excellence presses have already been installed in Europe, and will soon enter the Middle East market.
