Offset Productions aims for ISO with KBA DensiTronic

Packaging print specialist Offset Productions has installed KBA’s DensiTronic system on its six-color Rapida 142 in a drive for ISO 12647-2 accreditation, and as part of its business growth plan, as operations director, Vince Brearey explained: ‘Customers are asking more and more for quality assurances such as the ISO standard, and DensiTronic was the ideal solution. It will be a vital tool in helping us achieve that accreditation.’

Print manager, Mark Jeavons commented: ‘The packaging market has changed significantly over the past five years with expectations now much higher, so we are keen to ensure we stay ahead of the pace.’  The company also expects the DensiTronic system to reduce ink and paper waste by producing deliverable sheets faster. ‘We will be able to get more jobs on and off the press per shift and that ultimately will help us be more productive,’ added Brearey.

DensiTronic delivers precise fully automatic measurement quality control and documentation. Its high-speed densitometer is mounted directly onto the ErgoTronic console of the press, and features a detachable measuring head for hand-held use and a guide rail with integrated vacuum strip for reliable fixing of the sheet. There is also the ability to add new or customer-specific color bars to the standard catalogue.

Speaking for KBA, Mark Nixon, UK executive sales director said: ‘The software has profit enhancing and time-saving benefits that all Rapida owners could enjoy. For instance, it cuts waste sheets as it learns to surge the ink keys on each unit on start up. This reduces the over or under inking familiar with balancing jobs. In particular, with ultra low inking areas, it cuts back the lowest inking requirement to meet densities with the others, creating more sustainable production.’
