Olympus reports productivity boost with API cold foil

Olympus Print Group has reported a 50 percent increase in output with the use of a TA cold foil from API.

The Olympus Print Group specializes in self-adhesive labels and large format digital print, which it produces for a wide variety of markets. At its base in West Yorkshire, it applies the API TA cold foil using an AB Graphic Digicon 3 finishing line and Sericol cold foil adhesive.

The TA cold foil, which is being applied to gold and silver PP and PE substrates on the Olympus digital converting line, has enabled application speeds to increase from the 8-10 m/min to 25-30 m/min.

‘The TA foil from API has enabled us to increase our output by over 50 percent, which is fantastic,’ said Steve Makin, business improvement manager at the Olympus Print Group. ‘Not only has it helped our efficiencies, it has also significantly improved the quality of our final product.

‘Besides the outstanding foil provided, API was very supportive and proactive throughout the project. We’re now continuing the relationship by working with API on a similar project to develop a bespoke shade for a leading personal care brand.’

Phil Clarkson, account manager at API, added: ‘When we talked to Steve about the machine speed he was getting with his previous cold foil, we were confident that, with the technical support we offer, we could help him achieve vastly superior results. Happily, we were able to deliver both greater speed and higher quality.’
