Signode India gets another Gallus

To be installed at Signode India, the press has a special configuration to print pressure-sensitive labels. Samir Patkar, regional sales head for Asia for Gallus Label Presses at Heidelberg, said: ‘Though we can not reveal the configuration of the press, it will enable Signode to print high quality jobs. Signode has always been a partner of Gallus and launch pad for all our machines.’

Gallus showed two platform concepts at Labelexpo Europe 2017 with conventional and digital label presses. On digital front, the Gallus Labelfire 340 is a hybrid press that comes with digital white, CMYK, orange, violet and green. ‘On the basis of numerous customer requests, these functions have now been expanded to include the rotary screen printing unit that can be positioned upstream or downstream on the press. In front of the digital printing unit, for example, the customer benefits from the opacity of white screen printing ink. Downstream, screen printing can be used for haptic effects of spot varnishing or safety applications with special screen inks,’ said Patkar.

The Gallus Labelfire can produce finished and die-cut labels in a single production operation in combination with flexo, screen, digital inkjet, cold foil and digital varnish. The inkjet printing heads from Fujifilm enables the press to achieve a resolution of 1200 DPI at production speed of 50m/min.

Gallus also displayed the new conventional press platform, The Labelmaster, with different levels of automation – Classic, Plus and Advanced – and can be built according to customer specifications. New design of flexo print units, web path of 1.4 meters between two print units, lightweight aluminum printing cylinders, ink chambers have been developed for the press to print at up to 200m/min. ‘The new screen print unit in combination with A-line screen from Gallus will help achieve production speed of up to 100m/min. The Labelmaster Classic version was running all demos with the above speeds and different print combinations with three job changeovers in less than 10 minutes during the show,’ said Patkar.

Of Labelexpo Europe 2017, he said: ‘The show was good for Heidelberg. We are very satisfied with the outcome.’
