Stic-on Papers increases capacity

With an investment of two million USD, Hyderabad-based labelstock manufacturer Stic-on Papers has further expanded its infrastructure by installing a silicone coater and a hot melt coating line.

The new silicone coating line installed at the Stic-on Papers factory

The silicone coating machine coats on paper as well as polyester substrates. Running at 400m/min, it can produce 300,000 sqm of release liner per day. Karan Reddy, director at Stic-on Papers, said: ‘Silicone coater is currently running at 30 percent capacity. The market is growing and we will soon run full capacity on the machine.’

The new hot melt coating line, running at 50 percent capacity, coats clear-on-clear labelstock primarily for the beer label segment.

This is the second capacity expansion in three years at the company. During the first phase of expansion in 2015, Stic-on Papers installed hot melt and water-based coating lines with one slitting machine.

The Stic-on factory is spread across an area of 60,000 sq ft with further scope for expansion to a total of 120,000 sq ft. It runs two hot melt coating lines, two water-based coating machines, two silicone coaters, one lab coater each for hot melt and water-based coating lines, as well as four slitting machines.

With these installations, the company is now increasing its product portfolio for the label industry. A second time participant at Labelexpo Europe, Stic-on Papers will launch coated labelstock targeted mainly at the inkjet label industry.
