Sun Chemical acquires Gwent Electronic Materials to extend position in printed electronics

Sun Chemical and its parent company, DIC, have acquired Gwent Electronic Materials, a manufacturer of conductive inks, pastes and powders for the printed electronics market.

With the acquisition of the UK-based company, Sun Chemical has expanded its global position in the printed electronics market, as by combining Gwent’s complementary portfolio of products with Sun Chemical, customers will benefit from further innovative options for advanced printed electronics applications.

Gwent Electronic Materials' European production sites will enhance Sun Chemical’s global conductive ink, paste and powder manufacturing capabilities while allowing further penetration into developing markets.

Gwent Electronic Materials was founded in 1988 with the object of manufacturing materials for the electronics and associated industries. Products are manufactured directly for individual customers and are tailored to suit specific processes or manufacturing plants. The current capability of its production facility is quoted as being in the region of 50,000-100,000kg of paste a year. The company also undertakes contract research for companies seeking to look at areas of new technology and do not have their own in-house capability or expertise.
