Tianjin Huiyuan hosts KBA-led Open House

Chinese packaging producer Tianjin Huiyuan has opened its pressroom doors as part of an Open House event that heavily featured technology from Koenig & Bauer (KBA) and showcased automated print production including substrate logistics.

KBA said the Tianjin Huiyuan Open House drew a large crowd with around 100 packaging professionals in attendance

KBA said such technology is ‘currently somewhat of a novelty in Chinese printshops’ so the Tianjin Huiyuan Open House drew a large crowd with around 100 packaging professionals attending the event in northern China in November.

Tianjin Huiyuan is a longstanding KBA sheet-fed offset customer having installed its first press from the German manufacturer in 2002. Seven Rapida presses, including two new highly automated Rapida 106s, are now in its portfolio and integrated into an automated pile logistics system. Its KBA line-up includes a half-format Rapida 75, a large-format Rapida 142 and a fleet of Rapida 106s.

The two new Rapida 106 presses run at speeds of up to 18,000sph, are raised and feature a host of automated features ensuring short make-ready times, KBA said. This includes the DriveTronic SIS sidelay-free in-feed, automated plate changing, DriveTronic SRW simultaneous inking unit washing and combined CleanTronic cleaning systems for impression cylinders, blankets and rollers. Color density measurement is done at the ErgoTronic console with wallscreen via ErgoTronic ColorDrive. Furthermore the presses are kitted out with ErgoTronic ACR for register control, a separate DensiTronic Professional measuring desk and LogoTronic Professional for production management with JDF interface for exchanging data with the company’s MIS.

Tianjin Huiyuan is the first Chinese Rapida user to implement fully automated pile logistics. Automated pile logistics reduce manual efforts to a minimum and contribute considerably to increasing productivity and economy at Tianjin Huiyuan.
