Two Australasian converters choose WS6600

Australasian HP Indigo distributor, Currie Group, has confirmed two more installations of its WS6600 Digital Press in Australia and New Zealand.

Excel Digital is the latest Australasian converter to install HP Indigo 6600

Following its 2014 expansion into label  printing, Excel Digital has stated it intends to grow this segment to comprise 50 percent of its entire business within the next three years, according to CEO, Steve Matthew.

The new addition will empower Excel to take on new packaging work, such as folding carton, for the first time. This, coupled with white ink capability, will enable the company to push further into the L&P market, printing clear graphics on an increased number of substrates including dark, transparent, metallic and recycled papers. In addition,  Excel has also invested in Color Logic software to add a further range of options for eye-catching labels.

'Eighty percent of businesses in our market are SMEs, employing fewer than 20 people and producing small batches of produce that require short print runs of packaging or labels,' said Matthews. 'Their success can be driven by digital printing, and we can now offer the right short-run solutions to support them.'

Trans Tasman, Alpha Label in St Marys to the west of Sydney has a  similar story. In pursuit of  a competitive edge and an expanded customer range encouraged the company to break into digital print production with a HP Indigo WS6600 press as best suited for its needs.

The company says its new investment will streamline operations by eliminating the time previously required for color separation, mounting plates, registration and color matching. The versatility of the press, according to Alpha managing director, David Poole will also enable Alpha to produce flexible packaging, sleeves, and folding cartons while supporting several eco-certified substrates as well as environmentally friendly primers, varnishes, and adhesives.
