Vitax turns to IML for upgraded garden products packaging

Gardening consumables manufacturer Vitax has upgraded the packaging for a number of its products to plastic pails decorated using in-mold labeling (IML) as it looks to enhance the quality of its brand.

It previously used cardboard packs for some ranges but has now turned to plastic pails decorated using IML from RPC Superfos

Vitax manufactures a range of garden, growing and control products, such as Bonemeal, Q4 Fertiliser and Slug Gone. It previously used cardboard packs for some ranges but has now turned to plastic pails from RPC Superfos due to their robustness and waterproof qualities, as well as their stackability and decorative possibilities using IML.

RPC Superfos in Oakham, UK is supplying injection molded polypropylene containers in sizes from 2.5l to 10l from its SuperLift and PS (protective shoulder) ranges, together with a smaller one-liter pot from RPC Superfos in Blackburn.

The wide decoration area of the pails provides maximum space for effective branding and this has been further enhanced by the use of IML to create colorful and eye-catching designs that cover the entire pack to create a highly effective on-shelf appearance.

Harvey Bird, technical and quality manager at Vitax, said: ‘The lightweight, easy handling and effective protection that these packs offer are important advantages for both retailers and the end-user, while the quality of the decoration promotes a premium brand image for our products.’
