Xeikon under new ownership

Xeikon confirmed the appointment on 22 September of Wim Maes as its new CEO. This follows the completion of the takeover by two investment companies: Bencis which owns 80 percent of the company, and GIMV, which owns the remaining shares.

Wym Maes, new CEO at Xeikon

Maes said the companies acquired Xeikon because they saw 'a good growth potential'. He added that the new ownership meant more at the board and management level. 'The company's strategy remains the same, which is to grow our existing markets. We want to be among the top three players in our chosen markets, which includes becoming a preferred partner in the label and packaging sectors.

Xeikon is also beefing up it's presence in flexo prepress. This includes the Thermoflex 80 imager for producing flexo plates. In a complete production sense, the company sees flexo and digital as being a perfect match.

Other activities highlighted at the show include ICE, launched in June. It incorporates the 'See The Proof' website that allows global self-adhesive label printers, converters and print buyers to upload their label print files. ICE augments Xeikon's QA-I toner and was developed for printing on heat-sensitive label stock. Both are available in CMYK, white and several spot colors, including customized colors. Also featured is the Roll2Carton, cutter/stripper, running inline with a Xeikon 3500 at the Package Print Zone.
