AB Graphic shows host of finishing options at Labelexpo Americas

AB Graphic is exhibiting exhibit 14 machines over four booths at Labelexpo Americas 2018, covering a wide range of finishing applications.

A new laser, Digilase, is being launched at the show

The Digicon Series 3 is ABG’s flagship product, and it will be showcasing a ‘monster’ beverage specification with the new fast flatbed screen printing module, Big Foot 50 tonne flatbed hot foil unit, and its little sister, the 25 tonne flatbed hot foil unit with a new swivel head allowing foil to be fed both along and across the web like the Big Foot. This will be running two beverage labels highlighting the embellishment capabilities of this digital finishing machine.

A new laser, Digilase, is being launched at the show, demonstrating a host of new features. Perfect for direct from web sticker printing, the web path has been reduced, and the necessary lead in/out material has been decreased, resulting in a 85 percent reduction in waste. The minimum job length is 50 percent shorter, and file downloading takes just milliseconds, allowing a number of jobs to be processed on the machine at the same time – from unwind, to laser cutting, to rewinding. Years have been spent developing the laser software, according to the company, and all updates can be made quickly and easily without the need for a third party.

Also on the ABG booth is a Digicon Series 3 with the Jetfx digital embellishment module. This is an off-line, fully digital system creating varnish and foil effects. The Labelexpo module will feature two Jetfx inkjet bars and an overlamination module to allow for the cold foil effect.

The Digicon Lite will be shown with a sheeter and conveyor option.

Turret rewinders will be shown in several different configurations, including the glueless AutoSet, available as a standalone turret or integrated on a Digicon Series 3 (being shown as both at the show).

ABG’s German manufacturing division is bringing six different fleyeVision 100 percent inspection cameras, including two mounted on slitter inspection rewinders. There is also a booklet machine on the ABG booth, last shown six years ago, capable of processing up to 36,000 booklet labels per hour. A new table-top rewinder is also being shown (Omega Horizon) which is designed for inspection and re-working of single lanes.

ABG has teamed up with Cerm, so visitors to the booth will be able to watch live production data from the beverage specification Digicon, the AutoSet glueless turret rewinder and an SRI slitter inspection rewinder. This is part of a much wider project the two companies have been working on to fully automate the finishing production process.

On the HP booth (3226) is an in-line, fully automated Digicon Series 3 including the patented Fast Track die (running at 150 m/min in semi-rotary mode) and the fully integrated AutoSet glueless turret rewinder with quick change mandrels, showcasing printing and finishing ready to ship to customers in a single pass.

A new in-line coating machine for the HP Indigo 20000 Digital Press (ILC760) is an addition to ABG’s portfolio of wide web digital production. This machine is ideal for in-mold and shrink sleeve production.

The Domino booth (6523) showcases a Digicon similar to that on the HP booth with a 100 percent fleyeVision camera inspection system.

On the REA booth (6514) is an SRI mounted with an inkjet printer for variable data.
