DuPont Nonwovens has announced the introduction of two new styles of Tyvek – Tyvek Brillion DR and Tyvek Brillion DRC – to provide printers and tag and label manufacturers with a greater range of options when working with the portfolio of DuPont Tyvek products.

DuPont has developed many different styles of Tyvek over the years to meet the evolving needs of printers and tag and label manufacturers, and that trend continues with the introduction of Tyvek Brillion DR and Tyvek Brillion DRC.  While all styles of Tyvek can be thermal transfer printed, Tyvek Brillion DR and Tyvek Brillion DRC have been specifically engineered for thermal transfer printing of bar codes and variable information.

‘Tyvek Brillion DR offers the same lightweight strength and durability of traditional Tyvek with additional benefits for thermal transfer printing of black and white bar codes and variable information where readability is critical,’ announced the company in a statement. ‘As a result, tags and labels printed on Tyvek Brillion DR will retain their “good looks” longer and will be easier to process.’

Tyvek Brillion DR features include qualities that make it ideal for printing bar codes and variable information: minimum of a ‘B’ ANSI rating when printing conditions are optimized; improved smudge resistance, reduced puckering and curling; lightweight, yet resistant to rips and tears; and greater whiteness than traditional Tyvek.

For those who work in demanding, high-production, thermal transfer environments, Tyvek Brillion DRC is calendered and easy to use for both color and black-and-white thermal transfer printing of bar code and variable information.  Offering all of the features of Tyvek Brillion DR, Tyvek Brillion DRC adds the following benefits for maximum ease-of-use: minimum of a ‘B’ ANSI rating or better even under the most demanding conditions; higher delamination, better ink hold-out, and higher gloss than Tyvek Brillion DR; plus, higher density and lower dot gains for a more homogeneous appearance.

‘Both printers and tag and label manufacturers are under constant pressure to deliver high quality products that meet their customers’ requirements, while doing so at a price that makes sense for their businesses,’ said Anthony Palermo, DuPont graphics specialist.  ‘DuPontTyvek Brillion DR and DuPont Brillion DRC have been specifically developed for the complexities surrounding the thermal transfer printing of bar codes and variable information. We have also taken steps to ensure that Brillion DR and Brillion DRC deliver a cost-value proposition that will appeal to those using Tyvek in a range of applications.’
