Herma launches adhesive material for thermal labels

Herma has launched HERMAtherm PP white 65, an adhesive material that it said brings together the properties of thermal paper with the durability of polypropylene (PP) film.

HERMAtherm PP white 65 is free from Bisphenol A (BP-A) and safe from both a physiological and a toxicological perspective

HERMAtherm PP white 65 is suitable for single or multi-color pre-printing with conventional techniques, such as UV flexo and UV offset. When overprinting the variable information, speeds of up to 200mm/s are possible with direct thermal printing.

HERMAtherm PP white 65 grade is compatible with a broad range of applications thanks to the 62Gpt multi-layer adhesive. This includes use in hostile or damp/cool environments, including logistics labels, luggage tags, and fruit, meat and cheese labels. In such cases, the labels are often required to offer fast and strong tack.

HERMAtherm PP white 65 offers outstanding water and oil resistance compared with other thermal stock. The film is also free from Bisphenol A (BP-A) and safe from both a physiological and a toxicological perspective.

It can therefore be used in printers and scales, for example, for food labeling purposes. The film is even suitable for direct contact with food that is usually washed and/or peeled prior to being consumed.

Herma said that for label printers, one benefit is that they can now use one and the same adhesive material for diverse applications, with stock keeping, logistics and the procedures and quality management tasks associated with processing made much simpler as a consequence.
